Birthday
New Hope turns 9 on September 10th. Which means our family is about to celebrate 8 years as a family walking in faith with God together. As I have blogged about before, I am really unsure if I am a stronger Christian now than I was 8 years ago. I am certain though, that my life would not be the same. I have learned alot, though, about God. The biggest of those things is that I cannot create God in my life. I must allow myself to recognize He is standing there beside me. I have also learned that God has programmed us to live in community with fellow beleivers, and even some non-beleivers.
New Hope is crossing some milestones that deserve mention. First, last Saturday marked the last service at our 8 1/2 year home, Solley Elementary School. We have rented space, and have permits in hand for a new worship facility in a rented industrial park about 1/2 mile from Solley. This is a major step for us, and a really good opportunity to allow God to strenghthen our roots in Pasadena. Also, as mentioned above, New Hope, which beat all the odds to survive it's first year, is now celebrating it's ninth. We do have a month or so of transition, and a great local church, Grace Baptist Church, has opened their doors to us for a few weeks.
We had a time of reflection last Saturday night about our years at Solley and what our little community that was forged there meant to everyone. The overwhelming sentiment was that New Hope builds community that's unprecedented. I sat and smiled though, and didn't add my thoughts. We are still too new back in their midst to have a public voice in the church.
